Yet another political strategy blog, written by somebody who’s spent a little time in the industry. Tracking elections, dissecting polispeak, breaking down polls, etc. is what I do here. Coming to you from somewhere within Colorado’s 2nd Congressional District.
Main political/policy quals Some time served as a senior Senate LA mostly covering legislation and issues on EPW, CST and ENR. Advanced degrees in climate-type subjects. A lot of experience doing science policy as an academic. Principal of a technical and management strategy consulting firm giving energy and climate knowledge to businesses and trade associations.
My politics Probably best characterized as a true Mountain West Democrat or a Blue Dog Democrat. The only issues I’m reliably left on are environmental and conservation ones. I’m also an avid hunter and staunchly pro gun rights. On most issues I’m somewhere between a moderate R and moderate D position, but more likely D. I’m supportive of R’s that don’t pander to the hyper-social conservative base and supportive of D’s that don’t sound out of touch with reality. I look for leaders that lead, not follow.
